Patricia D. Giles

January 1, 1966 — April 30, 2023

Patricia (Patty) Darlene Giles, 56, of Honesdale, passed away after a brief battle against cancer on Sunday evening, April 30, 2023 at home, in the care and comfort of those she loved. Born on July 22, 1966 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of Edwin C. Giles, Jr. of Ohio and Patricia Price Eldred of Equinunk, who survive her. Growing up in a large family Patty was the quiet one that blossomed with so much to offer others. From her bright smile to her beautiful eyes she brought a ray of light into everyone's day as she appreciated the simple things and did not dwell on her own trials. Patty loved to sing; old bible school songs, country, pop, some rock and even the new age music, but she was most noted for banging out hymns in church and she never forgot the lyrics to any song. Speaking of memory, Patty was known as a walking phone book, but she also remembered everyone's birthday and you could guarantee a phone call was coming unless someone was treating her to her favorite past time of eating out. If Patty visited you, you would never have a dirty dish in your sink and she might even sneak in and fold all your laundry because she just loved to lend a helping hand. Infants captured Patty's soft spot and most times, she was the only one with the patience to rock them to sleep long after everyone else gave up. Patty's children meant the world to her. A simple mention of their names brought her smile out as she beamed with pride. She treasured her grand-children and was elated that her youngest was engaged. Patty's husband Dennis of 21 years was her perfect match. They loved one another with their deepest capacity and as Dennis spoiled Patty, she followed him everywhere, proud to be by his side. Patty's trusty companions were her dog Ebony along with her adopted cat thumper. She loved animals, but preferred those she could cuddle with as Nugget was better off left in the barn. Her hobbies were playing cards, puzzles, board games and watching game shows as she yelled at the TV when they didn't know the answers. Flowers of all kinds made her smile but she wanted nothing to do with planting or caring for them. Her 1st time experience to the Beach just a short time ago had her giggling like a little girl. She loved the sand, the water, the waves, the sunrise she watched for the first time. Patty loved to travel and see new places. Aquariums with her grand-kids, amusement parks with her family and shopping as long as she got chocolate out of it. Patty loved life and she was most happy when those around her were happy. We love and miss you Patty! Patricia is survived by her children: Patrick (Arielle) Giles of Pittsburgh, Danielle (Brandon) Chiat, Kaitlyn Giles and her companion Brandon of Fayett; brothers and sisters: David Giles, Lynda (Brian) MacMaster, James Giles, Tami (Michael) Hardler-Giles, Deborah (Robert) Schlosser, and Robert (Gabrielle) Eldred: Her father's wife Donna and her mother's husband Leon Eldred; several nieces, nephews, 5 grand-children and a large extended family. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Clements, and her brother, Rev. Edwin C. Giles, III. Special Tribute goes out to Wayne Memorial Hospice, especially Karon, Ginny, and Charlene for their loving devotion; Wayne County Office of BDPEI; and her devoted ODP/CVS supporter Debbie. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
