Kathryn Keenan

Kathryn G. "Kitty" Keenan, 92, of Waymart, passed away Sunday morning, February 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Carl J. Keenan on April 1, 2013. Born April 28, 1930 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Irene (Bidwell) Reifler. Kitty was a member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart. With her husband, she was the proprietor of Elk Forest Enterprises for many years, serving the local community. She will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family. Kitty was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her gardening, watching her birds all year long, playing bingo, rummy and doing her puzzles in the winter. Her favorite shows to watch were the Hallmark channel and the Antique Road Show. She enjoyed life everyday, was happy being with her family and loved being at her home on the lake. She is survived by four children: Richard Keenan and Gwen of Waymart, Carol Zawislak of Waymart, Paula Williams and husband Charlie of Massapequa Park, NY, and Linda Davis and husband Daniel of Waymart ; seven grandchildren: Charlie, Chaz, Emily, Brittany, Gregg, Bradley, Keith; two great-grandchild: Avery and Katrina; and a sister: Ann Klinkiewicz. She was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Dorothy Kline, Harold Reifler, Vincent Reifler, Shirley Perry, and Robert Reifler. In the words of Kitty, "Life goes on." The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25th at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, 242 Carbondale Rd. Waymart, PA with Rev. Joseph Sitko and Deacon Edward Kelly officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the church. Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 24th from 5-8 PM at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. in the Jenkins-Howell Chapel, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.
