Betsy Sassano

Betsy Sassano, 78, of Waymart passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 24, 2022 after an illness. Her beloved partner of many years, Vincenzo "Joe" Sassano survives her. Betsy was born July 21, 1944 in North Carolina. She and Joe moved to Waymart in 1997 and together, they owned and operated La Rustica Trattoria, the popular restaurant and pizzeria on Route 6. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. in the Jenkins-Howell Chapel, Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472. Deacon Edward Kelly of St. Mary's Church will officiate. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in St. Bernard Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bridgewater Township, New Jersey, 08807.
