William "Billy" D. Brill, 66, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 6, 2025 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief battle against cancer. His beloved wife, the former Karen R. Floyd survives him.
Born June 24, 1958 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late William H. and Gail Simons Brill.
Billy was a 1977 graduate of Western Wayne High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his time of military service, Billy was a Transportation Specialist in Germany. This experience instilled in him a love of driving and travel. Following his honorable discharge, Billy settled back in Wayne County and embarked on an enduring career as a truck driver.
He enjoyed bowling, and playing pool and softball while spending time with friends and family. His sense of humor and love of making others laugh were among his trademark personality traits. Billy was affectionately known as "The Mayor," and his greatest joy in life was being a ball buster. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, and dearly loved his dog, Jewelann.
He is also survived by a son, Brian Klinkiewicz-Brill of Honesdale; a grandson, Brandon Klinkiewicz of Texas; three sisters, Becky Casper of Honesdale, Lori Brill-Gulyas of Bethany, and Lisa Brill of Waymart; a niece with whom he shared a special bond, Julia Perry; several nieces and nephews, Christopher Fletcher, Carli Curtis, Seth Curtis, Brandon Flynn, Greg Flynn, R Wyatt; an uncle, Lynn Simons and his wife Bonnie; an aunt, BJ Bussa and her husband Jack; cousins, extended family members and many friends.
A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with Kaelin Anderson officiating. Friends and family may visit from 4-7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be private at a later date in Smith Hill Cemetery.
