Wedo J. Cost

Wedo J. Cost, 89, of Scott Township, PA, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Geisinger Community Medical Center after a short illness. He was a resident of the Gino Merli Veteran’s Center and was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Ann Congdon in 2011. He was born in Carbondale, the son of the late Dominick and Jennie Cost. Wedo was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and served in the Korean War. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was the center of life for his family. The family extends a special thank you to the entire staff of the Gino Merli Veterans Center for the care and support they provided Wedo during his illness. He is survived by four children: Deb Gallagher and husband Mark, Scott Township; Susan Cost, Scott Township; Cathy Bailey and husband Steve, Dickson City; William Cost and partner Heather, Dickson City; four grandchildren: Kelsey Arvonio and husband Andrew, Bill, Marissa, and Jake; several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc. 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA, Edward R. Howell Funeral Director. Private burial will be in the Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike, Waymart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are to be made in Wedo's name to the Gino Merli Veterans Center Residents Welfare Fund, 401 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA, 18503.
