Thomas H. Jenkins, 70, of Aldenville died Saturday morning, February 3, 2018 at home, after an illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Linda Dakey in 1997.
Born December 21, 1947 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Herbert E. and Elizabeth (Brooks) Jenkins.
Tom graduated from Waymart High School in 1966. He went on to graduate from Moravian College and also attended Penn State University. Tom was a veteran of the United States Army; he served during the Vietnam War.
Tom was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and also enjoyed riding in his cherry red vintage corvettes. As an original attendee of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, he cherished returning to the site each year to celebrate peace, love, and music. But his greatest pride was the two passive solar homes he designed and built in Aldenville.
He is survived by four children and one granddaughter, Mick Jenkins and his wife Amanda, and their daughter Brinley of Sayre, PA, Kurt Jenkins and his wife Caitlin of Aldenville, Jay Jenkins and his wife Jessica of Warren, NJ, and Shari Franklin and her husband Shaun of Waymart; and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Dakey of Steene.
Tom was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Jenkins.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc. 269 Belmont St. Waymart, PA 18472.
Graveside Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Canaan Corners Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
