William Theodore "Ted" Shaffer, 63, of Hyattsville, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 after a long battle against cancer. His husband, Larry Harris survives him.
Born December 21, 1956 in Carbondale, he was the son of Joan (Potter) Silberlicht of Honesdale, and William C. Shaffer of Honesdale who both survive him. He was preceded in death by his step-father Jack W. Silberlicht.
Ted graduated from Western Wayne High School, Class of 1975. He then went on to study at Lackawanna Junior College.
He is also survived by longtime friend, Marvin White of Hyattsville, MD; and longtime friend John Scott of Corning, New York; three brothers: Timothy Shaffer and his wife Bobbi of Honesdale, Eric Shaffer of Steene, and Michael Shaffer and his wife Mary of Steene; a step-brother, Joseph Silberlicht and his wife Sandy of New Hartford, NY; three step-sisters: Ellen Silberlicht and her husband David Potter of Honesdale, Ann Silberlicht of Silver Spring, MD, and Joan Epstein and her husband Ari of Cambridge, Mass.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ted was preceded in death by his sister, Robyn C. Howell; a step-sister, Martha Silberlicht; and his grandparents, Elton and Charlotte (Counterman) Potter and Clyde and Violet Maude (Walby) Shaffer.
Private graveside services will be held in Keen Cemetery, Waymart, at the convenience of the family.
