Ruth M. Edwards

Ruth M. Edwards, 101, of Waymart passed away Saturday morning, January 21, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, David "Bob" Edwards in 1982. Born May 24, 1915 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Hoiles) Masters. Ruth was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and Past Matron of Laurel Chapter #67, OES. She is survived by four children: Dorothy (Charles Sr.) Grimm of Waymart, David "Rocky" (Gleny's) Edwards of Waymart, Susan Schott of Florida, and Charles (Karen D'Alessandro) Edwards of Maryland; 8 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Sally Masters of Illinois; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large extended family. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lathrop; a brother, Charles Masters; and a son-in-law, John Schott. In accordance with her wishes, funeral services will be private. Friends and family are invited on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. for an afternoon of "Reminiscing and Refreshments" at the Main Lodge of Ladore Lodge & Conference Center, 398 South Street, Waymart, PA 18472. Interment will be private in the Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to the Calvary United Methodist Church, PO Box J, Waymart, PA 18472 or Wayne Memorial Hospice, 601 Park Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
