Rosemarie Simmons

Rosemarie Simmons, 82, of Waymart, PA and Venice, FL, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Mid-Valley Manor in Peckville.  She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert F. Simmons, Jr. 

Born May 25, 1935 in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Maria (Frickel) Hellgoth.

Rosemarie was a high school mathematics teacher in New York City prior to retirement.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Waymart.

She is also survived by two sons:  Steven Simmons and his wife Ellen of Alpharetta, GA, and Michael Simmons and his wife Heather of Milford, PA; three grandchildren:  Emma, Michael, and Norah; two step children:  Eddie Simmons and Lisa Basillion, both of Elmira, NY; four step-grandchildren:  Robert Joseph Simmons, Michael John Basillion, Laura-Leah Basillion, and Cameron Basillion; a brother:  Edwin Hellgoth of Carmel, NY; and his three children:  John Hellgoth, Laura Pandolas, and Linda Hoenigman.

The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 242 Carbondale Rd. Waymart, PA 18472 with Rev. Joseph Sitko, Pastor officiating.  All attending are asked to go directly to the church.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rosemarie’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
