Robert A. Muller, Sr., 89, of Cold Springs died on Sunday evening, September 12, 2021, surrounded by family at home. His beloved wife of 66 years, the former Judith R. Perkins survives him. They were married on October 10, 1955.
Born September 24, 1931, in Yonkers, New York, he was the son of the late John Anderson Muller and Veronica Meehan Muller.
Bob graduated from Newfoundland High School and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 in the Korean War. Bob was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve on December 2, 1960. Throughout the course of his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Korea Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and the Sharpshooter Medal for Rifle.
Bob worked for the Honesdale National Bank for 37 years. He retired in 1993 as a Vice President of the Loan Department. Following his retirement from the bank, he was the Lebanon Township Tax Collector for several years. Bob was a Lifetime Member of the Honesdale Hose Co. #1 where he served as Treasurer for 14 years. He was also a Lifetime Member of Pleasant Mount Emergency Services and served as the Treasurer from 1993 to 2017. Bob was a member of the Penn State Extension. An avid supporter of youth and agriculture, Bob was a 4-H leader for 45 years of the Cold Springs Rileyville and Bethany Ag Clubs.
He is also survived by three children: Ella Muller Chyle (Jack), Robert Muller Jr. (Ellen), and Kathryn Muller Dix (Roger); grandchildren: Jessica Chyle Friedenstein (Brian), Jimmie Ann Chyle Fries (Max), Jason Chyle (Kyndra), Jacob Chyle (Ashley), Jackie Chyle Cosgrove (Bryan), Erica Muller Verola (Mark), Ashley Dix Nebzydoski (Tom), and Adam Dix; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol Muller; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Theresa Muller; brothers; John Muller and Richard Muller; and sister-in-law, Elaine Muller.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 4-6 PM at Pleasant Mount Emergency Services, 161 Great Bend Turnpike, Pleasant Mount, PA 18453.
Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be private, for Bob's family.
Interment with military honors will also be private, in St. James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Wayne County 4-H Scholarship Fund or the Pleasant Mount Emergency
Services.
