Robert C. Fielding

Robert C. Fielding, 79, of Waymart died suddenly of natural causes on Thursday morning, December 5, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. His beloved wife, the former Barbara A. Hopkins preceded him in death on April 1, 2008.

Born May 15, 1945 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Alford G. Fielding and Anna Olszewski Fielding.

Bob was a 1964 graduate of Waymart High School. He later attended and graduated from Antoine's Barber School in Scranton before enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bob dutifully served until his honorable discharge in October of 1971.

Upon returning home, Bob resumed his place behind the barber chair at the iconic "Bill & Jim's Barber Shop" on Main Street in Honesdale. Bob became a well loved generational fixture at the barber shop for many years where he was known for his quiet and steady demeanor. Bob was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart. He was acknowledged for his 30 year membership of Alert Hook & Ladder #2 in Honesdale. Bob was also a member of the Waymart American Legion Post 889. After a 22 year courtship, Bob and Barbara married and enjoyed nearly 10 years of marriage before Barbara's death.

Bob is survived by his sister, Barbara Wade and her husband Wilfred of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM with Deacon Edward Kelly officiating at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Waymart Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 186, Waymart, PA 18472.

Interment will be Thursday in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners.
