Peggy Gabriel, 92, a resident at Bethany Village Senior Living passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, January 7, 2025. Her beloved husband of more than 61 years, Rev. Richard C. Gabriel preceded her in death on November 27, 2012. They were married on June 1, 1951.
Born January 9, 1932 in Ottowa, Illinois, Peggy was the daughter of the late Charles Bernard Pacatte and Rilla Elsie (Munson) Pacatte.
Peggy was a graduate of Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. She later earned a Master's Degree in Social Work from Marywood College. For many years, Peggy worked at Clarks Summit State Hospital where she was a Psychiatric Social Worker.
She was a faithful Christian who supported her husband in his ministry and embraced the role of a pastor's wife with grace and dignity. Peggy loved the church, and through the years, she taught Sunday School and was an active leader in the Women's Missionary Society. Peggy also found purpose and fulfillment in volunteering with the American Red Cross where she traveled to lend her aid with countless relief work projects. Peggy will be remembered as a kind and giving woman who lived out her faith in love.
She is survived by two children: Carole G. Weber and her husband Stephen of Honesdale, and Donald Gabriel and his wife Debra of Hopbottom, PA; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five sisters: Charlene Harnetiaux, Dorothy Urfer, Patricia Kapsar, Christine Barber and Sue Bultman.
Peggy was also preceded in death by three brothers: Charles, Don, and Jack Pacatte.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, 107 Milanville Rd. Beach Lake, PA 18405 with Pastor Shane Haffey and Pastor Ken Platt officiating.
Friends and family may visit on Saturday from 1:30-2:00 PM at the church.
Interment will be in the Beach Lake Cemetery at a later date.
