Paul Martzen, 80, of Waymart passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Sunday, September 4, 2022. His wife, the former Gertrude Rozanski, survives him.
Born July 16, 1942 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Stephen and Eva (Barna) Martzen.
Paul was a graduate of Waymart High School and a member of St. Mary’s Church. A lifelong dairy farmer, he resided on the family farm his entire life. Always a hard worker, and even while running the farm, Paul was a rural mail carrier in the Waymart area. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 44 years before his retirement. Paul was also a member of the Wayne-Pike County Farm Bureau and was proud of his farm heritage. He loved polka music, and enjoyed going antiquing and visiting flea markets. He looked forward to going to local church picnics and bazaars and was fond of visiting with the friends and neighbors he met along the way. Paul was a kind and thoughtful member of the community. He loved animals, and was especially fond of his daughter Stephanie's dog, Hank. Of all the places he could be, Paul was happiest in the barn among the cows and his grandchildren. He will be lovingly missed and never forgotten.
In addition to his wife, Gertrude, he is also survived by three children: Richard Martzen and his wife Bonnie, Annie Trapper and her husband John, and Stephanie Martzen, all of Waymart; granddaughters, Andie and Sydney Trapper; and grandchildren, Aiden, Maxwell, Adelynn, Daman, Jasmin, and Erica Martzen; a brother, James Martzen and his wife Julie of Waymart; and nephews, Michael and David Martzen.
