Paul Karnick

Paul Karnick, 90, of Scranton died Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at home.

Born July 29, 1933 in South Canaan Township, he was the son of the late Andrew and Sophie (Wiesynke) Karnick.

Paul was a graduate of Waymart High School. Drafted into the United States Army as a young man, he served his country and earned an Honorable Discharge. Paul later completed his undergraduate education at Penn State University. He went on to earn a Master's Degree from UCLA in engineering, and enjoyed a successful career working in the United States Space Program. Paul had the distinction of working on the Apollo missions. From the 1950's until 2001 he lived in California until retiring back to northeast Pennsylvania. An independent and private person, Paul enjoyed following the stock market and kept informed on the world economy and business markets.

Paul is survived by his sister-in-law, Clarice Karnick of South Canaan; nieces and nephews, Mary Alexis McDevitt, Julie Whitmore, Diane Brace, Paula Herzog, Daniel Karnick, William Karnick, and Andrea Murray; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Krohta; two brothers, Peter Karnick, and Adrian Karnick; and a nephew, Steven Karnick.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with Deacon Edward Kelly officiating.

Friends may visit on Monday morning, March 18th from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
