Mary Kardel

Mary C. Kardel, 90, of Dyberry Place, Honesdale, passed away Wednesday morning, June 20, 2018 at home.  She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charles Lewis Kardel in 2003.

Born at home on May 14, 1928 in Lansford, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Zupko) Serina.

Mary was a homemaker.  She enjoyed reading and crocheting.  She had a gift for caring for animals, both domestic and wild.  Most of all, she loved being a grandmother.

She is survived by four children:  Linda Millard of Honesdale, Diane Kardel of Honesdale, Charles J. Kardel and his wife Dorothy of Cranford, NJ, and John P. Kardel of Honesdale; a sister, Patty Voytepka of Long Island, NY; six grandchildren:  David C. Millard and his wife Beth, Laura Irwin and her husband Scott, Douglas J. Millard and his wife Selma, Jennifer Kardel, Jason Kardel, and Miranda Kardel; six great-grandchildren:  Christian, Matthew, Arween, and Izaan Millard, and Quincy and Grant Irwin.

She was also preceded in death by a brother:  John Serina

A Graveside Funeral Service and burial was held on Friday, June 22, 2018 in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners with Pastor Mary Bryant officiating.
