Marcy Podunajec

Marcy Kay Podunajec, 54, of Waymart passed away unexpectedly after an illness on Tuesday morning, March 11, 2025 at home. Her beloved husband, David L. Podunajec survives her.

Born May 26, 1970 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Charlene (Hahn) Chumard.

Marcy was a graduate of Western Wayne High School. For many years, she was the Activities Director at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart.

Marcy enjoyed being outdoors and camping with her family, working in her flower gardens, and feeding the birds.

She will remembered for her kind heart and willingness to help others. She always put others first.

Marcy is also survived by a daughter, Sara Podunajec; and a son, Ethan Podunajec, both of Waymart; two sisters, Nadine Chumard of Moosic Lakes, and Chyleen Chumard of Pottsville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Chumard; and a sister, Marquita D. Maher.

In accordance with her wishes, following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
