Loretta Oakley, 68, of Carbondale passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 2, 2022 at Creekside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carbondale.
Born June 29, 1954 in South Glens Falls, New York, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Beckwith) Welles and the step-daughter of the late Floyd C. Welles.
Loretta was a graduate of Waymart High School. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the former Waymart Knitwear where she was a garment folder for several years. Loretta enjoyed playing solitaire, drinking coffee, and indulging in chocolate as some of her favorite pastimes. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Loretta is survived by her son, Jesse Schaeffer and his wife Crystal of Jermyn; her brother, Carl Welles and his wife Nancy of Waymart; two grandsons, Tyler and Jacob Schaeffer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Carney and his wife Susie, Lee Carney, and David Welles and his wife Betty; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private Graveside Services will be held in the Clinton Center Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
