Loren O. Lutz, Jr., "Zombie", 93, of Lake Ariel, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025 at home, with his wife and daughter at his side. His beloved wife of more than 65 years is the former Charlotte A. Pugh.
Born March 30, 1931 in Lake Township, he was the son of the late Loren Oliver Lutz and Catherine (Edwards) Lutz.
Loren was a graduate of Lake Consolidated School. In May of 1951, at age 20, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until his honorable discharge in 1955. During his time of military service, Loren traveled the world and served aboard the USS Jarvis. He was always proud of his military experiences and opportunity to serve his country.
On March 21, 1959, Loren and Charlotte were married and started their life together. He was a carpenter for most of his life and worked for various construction contractors in the local area. Loren was a member of the former Open Bible Fellowship Church that was in Lake Ariel for several years.
Loren will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
He is also survived by a son, Eric Lutz and his wife Darlene of Belton, Texas; a daughter, Esther Lutz of Lake Ariel; a daughter-in-law, Christine Lutz of South Canaan; a sister, Elsie Enslin of South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lutz of Scranton; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.
Loren was also preceded in death by a son, Edward L. Lutz in 2021; a brother, William Lutz; and a brother-in-law, Frank Enslin.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held on Loren and Charlotte's 66th wedding anniversary, Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the East Canaan Cemetery, St. Tikhon's Road, South Canaan, with Pastor Bill Schneider officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the Lutz family to help them at this difficult time.
