Lafe Wilmarth, 68, of Mount Cobb, Jefferson Township, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, the former Nancy Taffera. They were married June 14, 1975.
Born December 6, 1952 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Clarence and Esther (Jones) Wilmarth.
Lafe graduated from North Pocono High School in 1971. He then went on to study at Johnson Technical School. Lafe was retired from the International Painters and Tapers Union where he enjoyed a long career of over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, using his tractor, Nascar, and tenting to all the wildlife that visited his property. Lafe and Nancy made many wonderful memories together, traveling and camping. They were always by each other’s side. Lafe was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and kindness. No one could ever fill his shoes. One of his greatest joys in life was being a grandfather; he loved his grandchildren more than anything in this world.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three children, Ryan and Alison Wilmarth of Aldenville, Jason Wilmarth and his fiancé Amy of Mount Cobb, and Lynne Woehrle and her husband Christian of Mount Cobb; and six grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Olivia, Michael and Jesse Wilmarth, and Mila, Marco, and Hudson Woehrle.
