Kenneth Badenhop, Sr.

Kenneth C. Badenhop, Sr. 96, of Waymart, South Canaan Township, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, January 20, 2025 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an illness. He and his beloved wife, Mary, were childhood sweethearts and recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. She is the former Mary M. Molino.

Born September 2, 1928 in Oceanside, New York, he was the son of the late Conrad and Irene (Creamer) Badenhop.

Ken was a member of St. Mary's Church in Waymart. Prior to his retirement he was a commercial and residential builder. Ken was a truly gifted carpenter and craftsman who took great pride in his work which is evidenced in each project he undertook. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving family man who cherished his wife and children. Ken will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Mary, Ken is also survived by four children: Kenneth Badenhop, Jr. (Karen Goble), Gloria Dugan (James), Mary Cannata (Giovanni), and Thomas Badenhop (Kathy); six grandchildren: Jacquelyn Candelas, Harrison Dugan, Houston Dugan, Trisha Ellis, Dr. Melissa Damiano, and Stephanie Badenhop; seven great-grandchildren: Ricardo, Dylan, Gavin, Corbin, Lillian, Nico, and Luca.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Badenhop; and his sister, Irene Evans.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 242 Carbondale Road, Waymart, PA 18472 with Rev. Joseph Sitko and Deacon Edward Kelly officiating. Everyone attending is asked to go directly to the church on Tuesday.

Private entombment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ken's memory to St. Mary's Church, 242 Carbondale Rd, PO Box 160, Waymart, PA 18472.
