Kathy J. Piorkowski

Kathy J. Piorkowski, RN, 62, of Honesdale passed away Friday morning, July 23, 2021 at Wayne Woodlands Manor surrounded by her loving family. Born November 9, 1958, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (McKinley) Schalck of Narrowsburg, NY and the late Harry Schalck. On December 29, 1984, Kathy married her beloved husband Ronald J. Piorkowski who survives her. Raised in Narrowsburg, Kathy graduated from high school there and went on to earn a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Kathy was a well-known and deeply loved Registered Nurse in Wayne County for many years. She was perhaps best known by her initials “K.P.” in her nursing career at Wayne Woodlands Manor where she served the community for the past 15 years. In 2020, Kathy’s peers voted her “Employee of the Year”. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband Ron, Kathy is survived by their five daughters: Kimberly and husband John Noah Payne of Cross Plains, TN, Jessica Piorkowski of Honesdale, PA, Kathleen Piorkowski and fiancé Bryan Telesky of Beach Lake, Kelly Piorkowski and fiancé Jim Rosler of Honesdale, and Jennifer Piorkowski of Honesdale. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Emily, Tyler and Allison and two brothers William Schalck of California and James Schalck of Middletown NY. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. At 6:00 p.m., Pastor Adam Reinhardt will officiate a funeral service and visitation will continue from 7-9 p.m. at the Jenkins-Howell Funeral Home, Inc. at 269 Belmont Street Waymart, PA 18472. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kathy's memory to Wayne Woodlands Manor, 37 Woodlands Drive, Waymart, PA 18472.
