Kathy Sue Land

Kathy Sue Land, 71, of Waymart passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024 at home, after an illness.

Born July 29, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Richard L. and Wanda L. (Chitwood) Land.

Kathy worked for the United States Department of Defense where she was a Logistics Readiness Supervisor for the Air Force. She loved her work and was proud to be an integral part of serving her beloved nation. Always active in government and service, Kathy was a proud member of the Republican Party and the Wayne County Council of Republican Women. Kathy was currently serving a term as an elected Auditor for Waymart Borough. She was a member of the Waymart Area Historical Society and loved to volunteer at events and programs to support the organization. Kathy will be remembered as a kind and generous lady who sincerely cared about others and serving her community and country.

Kathy is survived by two brothers: Gary D. Land and his wife Jane of Rogers, Arkansas, and Donald L. Land of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and a sister, Marsha K. Tice of Spokane, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: R. Wade Land, Robert S. Land and Mark A. Land.

In accordance with Kathy's wishes, a Celebration Life will be held in Spring 2025.

The family would like to thank the Wayne Memorial Hospice TEAM, neighbors and friends who loved and cared for Kathy during her illness.
