Joseph Yasanovich, 70, of Elk Lake, Waymart died Wednesday September 13, 2017 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton after an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, the former Patricia Keller.
Born May 11, 1947 in Passaic, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Stanley and Bridget (Mozeleski) Yasanovich.
Joe was raised in New Jersey and enjoyed spending weekends during his youth with family in Simpson and at Elk Lake. After graduating from high school, Joe completed his training at R.E.T.'s Electronic School in New Jersey. He worked for Kearfott Guidance and Navigation in Little Falls, NJ where he was a metallurgist in the aerospace engineering industry. Following his retirement Joe and his family settled at Elk Lake where he enjoyed many happy years. He will be remembered for his fondness of working in the garage and visiting the casinos. Most of all, he will forever be known for his love and commitment to his wife and son.
He is also survived by his son, Joseph S. Yasanovich of Elk Lake, Waymart.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 15 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, Waymart. All attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, September 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Jenkins Funeral Home – Edward Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont St. Waymart.
Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
