John Joseph aka “Johnny Jump-up” Cregan passed away on Saturday, May 1st with loving family by his side.
He was born in County Kerry, Ireland to the late Jerermiah and Nora Cregan on June 11,1939.
At the ripe old age of 17, he immigrated to New York City and eventually settled for many years in Syracuse, NY. While there he served briefly in the Army, worked at General Electric and as a sales representative. In the later chapters of his life, he moved to the small town of Waymart, PA. He counseled at The Hancock School, was a longtime friend of Bill W, and took care of the menagerie on the farm. He had an incredible gift for weaving malarky into tales he would tell, at length, to both people and animals.
He is survived by his loving wife Chris Bond and her daughter Kate Ward (Mike), his two children John Stephen and Mary Helen, and grandsons Jackson and Josiah. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Jerry (Marion), Mary Sammon (Desmond), Michael, Ellen, and Patrick (Grace), his sister-in-law Monica, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Janice Pierson, his brothers Stephen and Joseph, and his sister-in-law Kathleen Cregan. There are too many people to list but know we thank you for the love and sincere friendship you have shown John over the years.
