John K. Clarkson

John K. Clarkson, 51, of Carbondale, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born October 5, 1965 in Carbondale, John was the son of the late Anna Mae Thomas and Edgar Clarkson.

John graduated from Western Wayne High School and Trans-America Technical Institute.  He later earned his Commercial Driver’s License and was very proud of that accomplishment and his success as a truck driver.  For many years, John worked in the maintenance department at Western Wayne School District and also at Roche Supply in Honesdale. He was a kind and loving man who cared about others.  John was always willing to help others, regardless of the circumstance.  John was loved by his family and will be missed greatly.

John is survived by two daughters:  Genell Clarkson of West Lawn, PA and Elizabeth Clarkson of Jefferson Township; two grandchildren:  Blaine and Alexa; two sisters:  Sue Kaufman and her husband James of Honesdale, and Vicki Gigliotti and her husband Dominick of Waymart; and a brother:  Thomas Clarkson of Chapman Lake; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Jenkins Funeral Home-Edward Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472  with Pastor Wendy D’Agostino officiating.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday from 10:00 AM through time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to Wayne County Public Library 1406 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.

Interment will be in Tower Cemetery near Acre Lake in Susquehanna County.
