Janice E. Howell

Janice E. Howell, 82, of South Canaan Township passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 21, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, after an illness. Her husband of 63 years, Walter N. Howell survives her. They were married in 1958. Janice passed away on Walter's 84th birthday. Born June 19, 1938 in Tresslarville, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Reba (Reed) Enslin. Janice was a talented seamstress. She worked for many years in the local garment industry at Katz Factory, and the Waymart Knitwear. Janice enjoyed attending Mass with Walter at St. Patrick's and St. Mary's Churches in Waymart. She will be dearly missed. She is also survived by a daughter, Deborah Christensen and her husband Louis Christensen of Delray Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Jason Christensen and Jessica Christensen; a brother, David Enslin and his wife Martha of South Canaan; several nieces and nephews; Walter's brothers and sisters, Genevieve Morelli, Clara Rutledge, Joseph Howell, Edward Howell, Donald Howell, Gerald Howell, and James Howell. Janice was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lynne Howell in 1995; Walter's parents, Wayne and Johanna (Yamialkowski) Howell; and Walter's sister Janet Tyler. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public services. Interment will be private in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike, Waymart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janice's memory to St. Mary's Church 242 Carbondale Road, PO Box 160, Waymart, PA 18472.
