Jane A. Carpenter

Jane A. Carpenter, 111, of Waymart passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Alger, and later, her second husband, Emerson Carpenter. Born April 28, 1911 in Ararat Township, Susquehanna County, she was the daughter of the late William & Anne Archer. Jane was a faithful and devoted Christian. She was a member of the Waymart Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 35 years. Jane worked at the Katz Factory in Honesdale where she was a seamstress for many years prior to her retirement. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time serving the Lord and caring for others. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by nephews, Douglas Fenwick and his wife Joan of Richland, PA, Dale Fenwick and his wife Rose of Waymart, Daniel Fenwick and his wife Joyce of Mt. Joy, PA; and a niece, Benjie LaBar of Cresco, PA; step-children: Marilyn and her husband Charles of Binghamton, NY, Carl and his wife Ellen of Endicott, NY, Ruth Skinner of Binghamton, NY, Dana and his wife Sue of Sumpter, S.C., and Sharon Mitchell of Binghamton, NY. Jane was also preceded in death by her brother, Theo Archer; her sister, Mildred Archer Fenwick; a niece, Barbara Holmes; and a step-son-in-law, Ronald Skinner. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Jenkins-Howell Chapel at Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc. Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with The Waymart Church ministry officiating. Viewing will be on Monday from 10-11 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to The Waymart Church, 596 Honesdale Road, Waymart, PA 18472. Graveside Services and interment will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 10:30 AM in the Ararat Cemetery, 2220 Ridge Road, Thompson, PA 18465.
