James Casper, 57, of South Canaan passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, New York.
Born January 11, 1964 in Carbondale, he was the son of Gerald L. and Delores M. (Petrone) Casper of South Canaan who both survive him.
A graduate of Western Wayne High School in 1982, Jim earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Penn State University and enjoyed a fulfilling career in healthcare.
Jim started with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services, Office of Long-Term Living’s Bureau of Fee for Service Programs as a contracted Registered Nurse. He took the position of Medical Facility Records Examiner with the Utilization Management Review Unit on November 24, 2003. He has been the Wilkes-Barre Nursing Facility Field Operations Supervisor since August 27, 2005, as a Medical Facility Records Examiner Supervisor.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and a member of the Hamlin Hawgs Motorcycle Club - biking was his passion. Other hobbies include gun building and restoring his 1981 Corvette. Jim had countless friends, and he loved his family and those around him above all. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Jim is also survived by his son, Mitchell Casper of Forest City; and his sister, Suzy Hessling, and nephew Joseph Hessling, both of Wilmington, Delaware; and several aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
A Celebration of Life will be held on a date to be determined, for family and close friends.

Interment will be private in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp.
