Howard T. Hartman, 88, formerly of Talmor, PA died Wednesday morning, December 14, 2016 at Regional Hospital of Scranton.
Born August 28, 1928 in Blooming Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Owen and Frances Arter Hartman.
Howard was proud of his service in the United States Army where his career spanned more than 20 years. A First Sergeant, he worked in the Army Security Agency and proudly committed his life to national service. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Following his military retirement, Howard worked for the Sears Corporation and operated multiple RV parks when he resided in New Mexico. He was a member of the F&A Masonic Lodge where he attained the 32nd degree.
He is survived by five children: Debi Barrett and her husband Mark of Hollisterville, Cynthia Kay Whitmoyer of Southport, NC, Howard Hartman, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Broomfield, CO, Benjamin Hartman and his wife Susan of Southport, NC, and Robin Hartman of Hollisterville; two sisters: Vida Craveling of Bloomsburg, and Beverly Piatt of Benton; nine grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Jane Hartman in 1972; a sister, Vivian Derrick; a brother, Owen (Skip) Hartman; and a longtime New Mexico friend and companion, Dolly Unserd.
Following cremation, a private family service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
