Helen M. Syrylo, 94, of Waymart, died of natural causes on Friday morning, March 26, 2021. She passed away surrounded by, and in the arms of her family, at home. Her beloved husband of 59 years, Michael Syrylo preceded her in death in February of 2007.
Born in Canaan Township, Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Ferchak) Mican.
She was a lifelong resident of the Waymart area. Helen was a member of St. Patrick’s and St. Mary’s Churches in Waymart. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Waymart Knitwear after raising her children.
She is survived by her son, John Syrylo and his fiancé Carol Langendoerfer of Waymart; daughters, Diane Helbing and her husband Earl of Archbald, and Patricia Williamson and her husband Tom of Clifford Township; grandchildren, Michael Helbing of Olyphant, Laura Lockwood and her husband Kevin of Moscow, Samantha Hardy and her husband Kyle of Honesdale; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was also predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, John, and Edward Mican, as well as her sisters, Josephine Yatsonsky Applebaum, and Anna Lazorack
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lohen, Judy Heller, CRNP, and Barbara from Allied Hospice for their compassionate care.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.
