Gregory D. Phillips

It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory D. Phillips of Oneida, New York on April 22, 2025.

Born in Carbondale, PA in June of 1946, he was the third child and second son to Clifford & Connie (Shepherd) Phillips.

Greg graduated from Scranton Prep and Susquehanna University. After joining the Air Force and completing a tour of duty in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.

After the Air Force, Greg received his nursing degree from SUNY Morrisville and worked as an RN in the VA Hospital in Syracuse, NY, and then in the Oneida Hospital. Later in his career, he worked for Nationwide Insurance.

Greg was predeceased by a brother C. Douglas Phillips; and a brother-in-law, Donald Shaffer.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; son, Andrew and his wife Maya; daughter, Sarah and her husband Michael; and four grandchildren: Elysia, Nollie, Audrey and Elliot; a sister, Bonnie Shaffer Kelly and her husband Jim; nephews, Jeff Shaffer (Suzanne), Brian Shaffer (Alyson) and Kevin Shaffer (Sarah May).

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Howell Family Funeral Home, Inc., Edward R. Howell, Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA.

Interment with military honors in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners will be held at the convenience of the family.
