Francis T. Golden, 84, of Waymart, passed away on Sunday evening, January 28, 2024 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore.  His beloved wife of 52 years, Ginger (Kohl) Golden survives him.

Born on November 5, 1939 in North Scranton, he was the son of the late Francis and Stella (Fisher) Golden.

Frank attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and was a 1957 graduate of Scranton Tech High School.  He was a US Marine Corp Veteran, having served from 1957 to 1960.  After returning home from his military service, Frank joined the Pennsylvania State Police where he was a Trooper; he first worked in Berks County and later transferred to Troop R in Honesdale where he remained until his retirement.  Frank spent the last 50 years of his life in Wayne County.

After retirement, he established Golden Disclosures Private Detective Agency.   Frank was the first DARE Officer for the Western Wayne School District. He was a member of the John Hancock Memorial FOP Lodge, the Northeast Marine Corp League, and the PA State Police Retirement Association.  Francis was the Wayne County Republican Chairman for 25 years. He attended St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale. He will always be remembered for his great love of hunting with his brother Bob, son Randy, friend Homer, and his nephews.

In addition to his wife Ginger, he is survived by his three children: Tammy Buck (Charles) of Kempton, PA, Randy Grove (Kim) of Conway, SC and Dawn Matteo (Adam) of Mendham, NJ; three grandchildren: Adam, Anthony, and Vincent; two nephews: Trooper Robert Golden and Trooper William Golden (Lauren) of Lackawanna County; niece Katie Golden; cousins, Marion (Golden) Shields, Ellen Valagene and Kathy Chessick; his mother-in-law, June Kohl of Ephrata, PA; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. 

He was predeceased by his brother, Scranton Detective Robert Golden.

Frank’s family would like to thank his caregivers, Beverly and Megan who took wonderful care of him.  

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Performing Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) at Camp Ladore, 50 Camp Ladore Way, Waymart, PA with Pastor Adam Reinhardt officiating. 

Frank's family will receive friends and relatives from 9-11 AM on Saturday, February 10th in the Performing Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) at Camp Ladore, 50 Camp Ladore Way, Waymart, PA.

Donations can be made in his memory to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 107 7th Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 or Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431.
