Igumen Leonty (Arrowsmith)

Igumen Leonty (Arrowsmith) 98, a Monastic Priest at St. Tikhon's Monastery, South Canaan, fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday morning August 29, 2024.

Born December 6, 1925 in Los Angeles, California, he was the son of the late Royal Benjamin Arrowsmith and Mary Clevenger Arrowsmith.

Fr. Leonty was a Jesuit missionary in the early 1950's through the 1960's. He was ordained an orthodox Christian priest by metropolitan Philip in 1987. Fr. Leonty served as a priest at St. Innocents Orthodox Church Fremont and Livermore from the 1990's through 2015. He came to St. Tikhon's in 2021, and was tonsured August 20, 2021 as a monastic.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Kaminsky and her husband Jeffrey of Livermore, California; a grandson, Ethan Royal Arrowsmith; and a granddaughter, Lilah Kaminsky.

Fr. Leonty was also preceded in death by his wife, Denise (Ethelwyn) Arrowsmith.

The Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Tikhon's Monastery Church. Viewing will be from 10-11 AM in the church on Wednesday.

Interment will be Wednesday in St. Tikhon's Monastery Cemetery.
