Erna K. Nehls

Erna K. Nehls, 93, of Honesdale died Friday, January 19, 2024 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart.

Born July 5, 1930 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Marie (Haggarty) Kranepuhl.

Erna lived a rich and full life. Raised on the family farm, she learned the values of hard work and determination. Erna was a faithful Christian and was active in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale for many years. Among the many and varied involvements at the church, she played the piano, and was the first woman appointed as a vestry minister.

Years ago, Erna worked at Katz's Factory before devoting several years as a home health caregiver in the local community. She had a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and found blessing and fulfillment in caring for others. Erna will be remembered for her loving care and commitment to helping people. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra L. Reuss of Honesdale; and her grandson, Christopher Reuss.

Following cremation, memorial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
