Eleanor Schindhelm Jacob, 98, of Waymart died Sunday morning, June 19, 2016 surrounded by the love of her family at home. Her husband of more than 39 years, Edward August Jacob preceded her in death on December 30, 1993. They were married in May of 1954.
Eleanor was born on April 5, 1918 in Manhattan, New York to Martin and Margaret (Huber) Schindhelm, both immigrants from Germany.
Eleanor was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked in City Hospital in New York prior to her retirement in the 1950’s.
She is survived by two sons: Georg M. Jacob and his wife Carla of Waymart, and Eric Jacob of Milanville; eleven grandchildren: Georg A. Jacob, Matthew S. Jacob, John Jacob, Edward Jacob, Michael K. Jacob, Tyler J. Jacob, Amber Rose Jacob, Joshua Jacob, Mark A. Jacob, Ian Jacob, Kaine Jacob; eight great-grandchildren: Isaiah Jacob, Destiny Eleanor Jacob, Michael Jacob, Marcus Jacob; Matthew C. Jacob, Alex Jacob, Holland Jacob, and Mila Jacob; a niece, Dolores Keesler of Damascus.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Rose Schindhelm Tedesco, and Sylvia Schindhelm.
Following cremation, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
