It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin Jonas, 88, of Pleasant Mount, PA, on December 21, 2024. Born on March 1, 1936, in Williamsport, PA, Ed was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was the devoted husband of Sally Perkins Jonas for 66 years, a partnership built on love and unwavering commitment.

Ed is survived by his four sons: Ed (Melany) of Lancaster, PA, Bill (Mia), Donald (Karen), and David (Shelly), all of Pleasant Mount. He also leaves behind a legacy of 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy in his life.

Ed would tell you that his biggest accomplishment as a youngster was being a player of the Maynard Street Midget Little League Baseball Team. They were the winning team in the 1st Little League World Series in 1947.

Ed was honored to serve in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne, enlisting in June of 1954 and receiving honorable discharge in June of 1957. He was also a member of several local organizations, Ed was a proud member of the American Legion Costello-Monahan-Brown, Cold Springs Chapel, the Masonic Lodge of Honesdale, and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825. His community involvement and dedication to service touched many lives over the years.

One of Ed's most cherished traditions was making and delivering homemade eggnog to local businesses and residents throughout the community each holiday season. This gesture was a beloved custom that brought warmth and joy to countless neighbors and friends.

Ed's work ethic, generosity, and commitment to his family were the cornerstones of his life. He was a man who cherished family, God and farm life above all and took great joy in spending time with his loved ones. His presence will be missed, but his legacy will continue through the generations he helped shape.

The family would like to give thanks to the plethora of caregivers who have helped along this journey. They would like to offer special thanks to Patty Rake for her unwavering dedication and devotion to all of Ed and Sally's needs during this time. Her support has been an absolute blessing.

A private service for the immediate family will be held at their convenience.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ed's memory to a charity of your choice.
