Christopher Lee Bates, a man of few words but deeply cherished by those who knew him, passed away on May 6, 2024, at Regional Hospital.
Born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1974, Christopher leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength and unconditional love. He was a beloved son to Linda Day and Stepdad Albert Day of Equinunk, PA, a devoted father to his cherished daughter Kodee Bates Olyphant, a loving brother to Colleen Lefferts of Beach Lake, PA, and Raymond Bates of Germany. Christopher is also survived by his step-siblings Kevin (Suzanne) Day of Honesdale, PA, and Donna (Jeff) Miszler of Hawley, PA, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Raymond J Bates Sr., on July 31, 2007.
Christopher pursued his passion for public service, graduating from LJC Act 120 Police Academy in 1995. Although he did not pursue a career in law enforcement, he served as a corrections officer and later worked at the Lackawanna County Processing Center.
Christopher had a love for the open road, often seen riding his Harley, and cherished the companionship of his St. Bernard, Sampson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Regional Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Christopher and the family during his last days.
Though Christopher's presence may have been understated, his impact on those around him was immeasurable. He lived his life with a quiet dignity and a steadfast commitment to his family.
A Celebration of Christopher's Life will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Lookout Firehall, 2625 Hancock Highway, Equinunk, PA 18417.
