Cecelia J. Zapotosky, 92, of Carbondale, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Edward Zapotosky.
Born in Dickson City, Cecelia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna Marhefka Davitt and was a graduate of Waymart High school. Before her retirement, she was employed at the Wayne County Bank in Waymart and previously worked at the Waymart Knitwear. Cecelia was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She loved traveling, especially after her retirement when she had the opportunity to make a pilgrimage to both Lourdes, France, and Fatima, Portugal.
A devout Catholic, she was very involved with her St. Mary’s Church Community, whether it was teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, or helping at yearly church functions.
Family meant the world to Cecelia and holidays, especially Christmas Eve, were centered around her gracious hospitality.
Her two grandchildren were the light of her life, and she theirs. Many precious memories were spent with Nana including countless weekend visits, milestones, and celebrations.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Carbondale Nursing Center and the Compassionate Care Hospice for all of their kindness, care, and support.
Surviving are her daughter, Maria Collura and husband, Sam, Carbondale; grandchildren, Marissa Collura and Sam Collura, Carbondale; sisters Pearl Kolanda, Binghamton, NY, and Vicky Bonear and husband, Clark, Honesdale; and many nieces and nephews.
