Catherine Baranoski, 94, of Waymart passed away Wednesday night, August 23, 2017 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Baranoski on August 6, 2012.
Born January 24, 1923 in Browndale, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Nellie Zdula Zawisky.
Catherine loved her family and enjoyed preparing meals for those she loved. Many happy memories were made with Catherine around the Thanksgiving table where she hosted many wonderful holiday meals. She also enjoyed planting flowers and caring for her beautiful flowerbeds at home. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Waymart. Catherine will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her four children: Cathy Osborne and her husband John of Greenfield Township, Edward M. Baranoski of Waymart, David Baranoski of Voluntown, CT, and Sharon Lamberton of Mountain Top and her companion Brian Snear; three grandchildren: Beth Baker and her husband Mike of Carbondale, John Osborne and his companion Tatiana Atkinson of Union Dale, and Jacob Lamberton of Waymart; three great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Collin, and Emma; a sister-in-law: Bertha Baranowski of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters: Michael Zawisky, Mary Chuck, Russell Zawisky, Ann Zawisky, John Zawisky, Helen Zawisky, Julia Muta, Frank Zawisky, and Andy Zawisky; and a son-in-law: Rusty Lamberton.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10:00 A.M in St. Mary’s Church, 242 Carbondale Rd., Waymart. All attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
Friends may call on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Jenkins Funeral Home-Edward Howell Funeral Director, 269 Belmont Street, Waymart, PA.
Interment will be Tuesday in the Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike.
