Carl "Ski" Pristavec, 81, of Gambrills, Maryland, formerly of Browndale, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Born July 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Carl and Lucille (Pormowicz) Pristavec.
Although he resided in Maryland, he always maintained a close connection with his true "home" in Browndale, PA. This was especially true when it came to his friends. Carl was an avid outdoorsman and an officer and lifetime member of the Browndale Sportsmans' Club. This was the place where he enjoyed every opportunity to chat with the guys.
Whenever he was in the area, he frequented DG's Bar & Grill and The Beacon, and was well known for enjoying his deer liver sandwich at Rizner's Bar.
The Forest City News was one of Carl's favorite things which enabled him to keep up with everything that was happening locally.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
Carl is survived by his loving cousins, Margaret "Peggy" Pristavec Henshaw and Nancy Pristavec Wayman of Waymart; his caring friends, John Rizner, and Chelsea Popiel and Eric who assisted Carl in later years. They will always love and remember him with the quote, "you learn something new everyday."
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public services.
