Benjamin A. Beynon

Benjamin A. Beynon, 71, of South Canaan, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, February 3, 2021 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, after an illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Brenda (Collins) Beynon. Born April 12, 1949 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Dave and Grizelda (Anderson) Beynon. Ben graduated from Lake Consolidated School in 1967. He went on to study both music and computer science at Marywood University. Benjamin Alexander Beynon was a highly decorated and respected mason. He devoted 35 years to the masonic brotherhood, and collected a number of accolades in that time. First, Ben was a Past Master of Waymart Lodge #542; he was currently serving as The District Deputy Grand Master of PA of District #14; he was the recipient of the Grand Lodge of PA Master Pillar/Centennial awards; he served as the District 14 principal of the School of Instruction for many years; and he was the Past Worthy Patron (PWP) of the Eastern Star. Along with Blue Lodge, Ben was an honorable past commander (PC) of Palestine Commandry #14. He served as Right Eminent Grand Commander of Knights Templar of Pennsylvania REPGC, IKT, KCT from 2018 to 2019. Ben was also a member of: Knight Preceptor Current Marshal, Eureka RAC #179 PHP, Joshua Association of Northeastern Pa PP, Scranton Council #44 PTIM CMOY District #6, Council of Anointed Kings of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Priory #6 Knight of the York Cross of Honor Current Herald, Northeast Council #74 Knight Masons PEC, Northeastern York Rite College #102 PPG OPC, Colonel Louis A. Waters Council #226 AMD, PSM, Williamsport Conclave Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine PPS, Tall Cedars PGTC, Grotto Past Monarch, Knight of Pythagoras, and the Valley of Scranton Ancient Scottish Rite of Freemasons: Illustrious Brother Benjamin A Beynon 33 Degree; MSA Keystone Lodge of Perfection PTPM, Keystone Council Princes of Jerusalem PSP, Keystone Chapter of Rose Croix PMM, Keystone Coniston Valley of Scranton PCIC, just to name a few. Finally, Ben was a brother, in the truest sense of the word. He cherished each experience with his masonic brothers, and supported them. His passion was riding and building motorcycles with his family and dearest friends every chance he got, he was an amazingly talented drummer, loved doing all kinds of beautiful woodwork throughout the years and spending time with his beloved family. His kind heart and infectious smile made people feel loved and accepted everywhere he went. He truly earned the nickname "Gentle Ben". Ben is also survived by two daughters, Crystal Beynon and her companion Jerry Lester of Greentown, and Caressa Gregg and her husband Damian of Honesdale; six grandchildren, Atraeu, Taleightha, Qeiahnan, Jake Lester, and Teka and Chavez Lill; two great-grandchildren, Paityn and Tucker; and a brother, David Beynon of North Carolina. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Zelda Mae Oakley. Due to the current health guidelines, memorial and masonic services will be held at a date to be announced, later this spring.
