Burdette Milo Gardner, 86, of Waymart passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 27, 2020 at home. His beloved wife of 65 years, the former Elizabeth A. Holbert survives him. They were married February 8, 1955.
Born May 12, 1934 at home in Waymart, in the same room where he died, he was the son of the late Dr. Burdette C. Gardner and Nellie (Richards) Gardner, RN.
A lifelong resident of Waymart, Milo graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale; he later continued his education at Johnson Technical School where he mastered his skills in carpentry. Milo was of the Baptist faith. he was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and joined the Blue Lodge in Carbondale many years ago. He was proud to be a 32nd degree Mason.
He is also survived by a son, Robert Gardner and his wife Rosemary of Waymart; two daughters, Beth Hauenstein and her husband Leonard of Aldenville, and Nancy Sparrow and her husband Edward Sr. of Carbondale; four grandchildren, Timothy, Matthew, Sarah, and Edward Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Ava; and a brother, John Gardner of Holcomb, NY.
Interment will be in The Waymart Cemetery at Canaan Corners, Owego Turnpike.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Louis D’Oro and the nursing staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital for the excellent care and compassion they provided.
