Alice Grace Hunt Conbeer, 87, of Bethany, formerly of Beach Lake, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023 at home. Her husband, Carl O. Conbeer preceded her in death on May 10, 1989.
Born October 8, 1935 in Starlight, Buckingham Township, she was the daughter of the late Elmer J. Hunt Sr. and Merle E. (Quick) Hunt.
Alice graduated from Preston High School in the class of 1953. She married Carl on October 10, 1953 at Hancock Baptist Church. Together, they owned and operated their family dairy farm in Beach Lake. Alice was an industrious woman with a will to work and be of service to others throughout her life. She was a school bus driver for Avery Transportation, and also worked in the J.C. Penney Catalog Store center many years ago. Alice was a registration clerk at Wayne Memorial Hospital and faithfully served on the hospital auxiliary in her retirement. A gifted singer and musician, she was a member of the Wayne Choralaires. Alice was a faithful Christian and found fulfillment in serving the Lord. She was a mission trip participant and supporter of the Abrahamsville-Damascus domestic trips, served as the Correspondence Secretary for the Bethany United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church where throughout the years, Alice was a member of various boards and committees. She also served as a Delegate to the Annual Conference of the Free Methodist Church.
Alice's family will remember her for her care and love she shared wholeheartedly. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, mission trips and travel. Alice loved working outdoors, caring for her yard and tending flowers and her garden. She dearly loved her cat, Sami who was a faithful companion to her.
She is survived by three children: Virginia L. Fries of Bethany, Carla I. Swendsen and her husband Harvey of Milanville, and Wayne E. Conbeer and his wife Kathryn of Fonda, NY; five grandchildren: Chandra J. Swendsen Roberts and her husband Jason, Jared W. Conbeer, Teresa V. Conbeer Wright and her husband Jesse Wright, Loren Conbeer and his wife Rebekah, and Wyman J. Conbeer; nine great-grandchildren: Madison G. Roberts, Sydney S. Roberts, Kenley R. Roberts, Trenton C. Roberts, Ina Conbeer, Clara Conbeer, Tobin Conbeer, Sybil Conbeer, and Tyson Conbeer; three sisters: Martha Peck, Ramona Harrison and her husband Eugene, Evelyn Thomas and her husband Lawrence; sisters-in-law: Sally Hunt, Mary Weinberger, Clara Graves and her husband Albert; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Hunt and E. John Hunt, Jr.; and her sister, M. Lois Fitze; and her son-in-law, Robert D. Fries, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Beach Lake Free Methodist Church, 107 Milanville Road, Beach Lake, PA 18405.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday from 9:30-11:00 AM in the church.
Interment will be in the Beach Lake Cemetery.
