Alan L. Kemmis, 75, of Waymart, formerly of Kansas died Monday, March 17, 2025 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. His wife is the former Laura J. Collins.

Born May 19, 1949 in Missoula, Montana, he was the son of the late Merton W. and Deloris V. Moen Kemmis.

Following graduation from high school, Alan went to college for nearly two years in Dickinson, ND where he studied business. However, he left college before completing his studies to enlist in the United States Air Force and serve his country during the Vietnam War. His military service spanned from 1969-1973. Alan served in U-Tapao Thailand and was a Supply Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

Alan was a hard worker and gifted man who learned many skills, including playing the b-flat clarinet. He delivered newspapers both as a child and later in life as an adult. For several years, he owned a video store, Eagle Talon Video in Sidney, Nebraska. Alan also worked as a night clerk at a truck stop called SAPP Brothers.

Alan liked old trucks and cars and was also fond of trains and cats. In his later years, he always drank soda or chocolate milk. Also enjoyed old movies and television shows as well as history, politics, and football. His favorite teams were the 49ers, the Eagles, and the Ravens.

In addition to his beloved wife Laura, he is also survived by a step-son, Zachariah Collins (Lindsie) of Ft. Mohave, AZ; and grandchildren, Zoey, Alexander, Zaylin, and Zayden; brother, Bruce Kemmis of Pratt, KS; sister, Kathlene (Rich) Munoz of Sidney, MT; brother, Daniel (Sheila) Kemmis of Pratt, KS; sister, Patricia (Michael) Borah of Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law, Gary Collins (Barbara) of Honesdale, PA; sister-in-law, Janet Curtis (Russell), of Waymart PA; sister-in-law, Deborah Gavitt (Joseph) of Honesdale PA; and brother-in-law, Grant Collins (Judy) of Honesdale PA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Larry J. Collins; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grant S. and Delores Diehl Collins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Clinton Center Baptist Church, 1000 Belmont Turnpike, Waymart, PA with Pastor Cal Wiggins officiating.
