Nancy Degroat

Nancy L. DeGroat, 75, of Mt. Pleasant Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2023 at home. She was the loving wife of Byron L. DeGroat who survives her. Married on October 4, 1969, they shared more than 53 years together. Born on June 12, 1947 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Lee) Clark. Nancy graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale. In the early years of her marriage, she and Byron lived in Gravity, near Lake Ariel. In 1982, the family moved to Egypt Road in Northern Wayne County. Always committed to her family, Nancy worked at home, raising three beloved children. She will be remembered for her faithful love and the care she provided each of them throughout their lives. After the children were grown, Nancy worked for Ladore Lodge & Conference Center of the Salvation Army in Waymart for 22 years prior to her retirement. During those years, she enjoyed several lasting memories and friendships. Nancy enjoyed shopping and cooking; but most of all, she loved her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. In addition to her husband, Nancy is also survived by three children: Jason DeGroat of Mt. Pleasant Twp., Jeremy DeGroat of Browndale, and Jolene Beckwith and her husband Kevin of Simpson; three grandchildren: Samantha DeGroat, Whitney DeGroat, Cody Beckwith; and several cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Ladore Lodge, 398 South Street, Waymart, PA 18472 with Pastor Cal Wiggins officiating. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM in Clinton Center Cemetery with Pastor Cal Wiggins officiating.
