Anna E. Hook, 94, of Honesdale passed away peacefully, after an illness on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born October 25, 1928 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mollie (Weist) Hook.
Anna lived all of her life in Honesdale and attended Honesdale Catholic High School. An industrious woman, Anna walked to work from her home every day until she retired at age 78. Her career in local stores began at Woolworths. She later worked at Grants, and then at Newman’s in the children’s department. Anna went on to work at Rea & Derrick which became Peebles, and finally CVS. At CVS she was well known throughout the community for managing the health and beauty department.
Anna was a devout and faithful Catholic. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Honesdale where she was very involved in supporting the many outreaches of the parish. Anna was a eucharistic minister and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed many trips abroad to Europe with the church and was grateful for the opportunity to visit Portugal, Rome, France, and Ireland. Anna was also a lifetime member of the Alert Hook & Ladder Fire Co. in Honesdale.
Her family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Wayne Memorial Hospice, and the 4th Floor Staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital for all the loving care and compassion that was provided to Anna and her family.
Anna is survived by three sisters: Rita Francisco of Honesdale, Rosella Babel of Beach Lake, and Helen Cortazzo of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
